Tiempo
Hay varios tipos de tiempo: de reloj, corporal, histórico, cultural. En este taller laboratorio, exploramos varias maneras en que componemos el tiempo–estirándolo, destilándolo, rodándolo, interpolándolo–en la danza contacto improvisación y en lo escénico. ¿Cuáles son maneras de relacionarse con historias complicadas, transiciones y secuelas arrastradas? ¿Cómo creamos en sus estelas? Centrándonos en el cuerpo, emplearemos herramientas de la danza contemporánea, la dramaturgia, la poesía y el dibujo. Basada en nuestra investigación y performance actual investigando a la historia reciente en Chile, Sedimento: ensayos de cuerpo, memoria y futuro, indagamos también en el acto de futurar o mundear–acceder y activar a la imaginación para ir abriendo el paso al mundo, creando el mundo en que queremos vivir.

Time
There are various types of time: clock time, historical time, body time, cultural time; you can probably think of some more. In this laboratory workshop, we’ll explore various ways we compose time, in both contact improvisation and performance: stretching it, distilling it, rolling it, cutting it, splicing it… What are ways of engaging with complicated histories, transitions and aftermaths? How do we create in their wake? Centering ourselves in the body, we’ll employ tools from contemporary dance, playwriting, poetry and drawing. Based on our current research and performance investigating recent tumultuous history in Chile, Sedimento: ensayos de cuerpo, memoria y futuro (Sediment: Studies in Movement, Memory and Future), we’ll also investigate the act of worlding or futuring: activating the imagination to embody and make real the world in which we want to live.

Thanks to the participants in the TIME LAB I led at the Freiburg Contact Improvisation (CI) Festival Teachers’ Meeting in Aug. 2023, where I began to flesh out some of these ideas for performers, creators, and CI teachers outside of Chile.
